TIME

I was on twitter last week and I read a tweet from INC magazine saying "the world's most successful people start their day at 4am." Then I saw one of my favorite authors J.K Rowling retweet and reply "oh, piss off." I laughed at first then really thought about it when I read the responses of people on twitter. So are really saying that you have to get up at 4am to be as successful as Bill Gates or Warren Buffet? If they are I think that's not realistic and it puts a lot of pressure on millennials.

Do I get up early? I do on most days just because of my sleep schedule but at the end of the day it's not about the time you wake up it's about how you use that time. People don't really realize how much time you have in a day. 24hrs is a lot of time and you can accomplish a lot in that time. Productivity is what we all really need to focus on. I have friends that are millionaires that might not get up till 9am and really start their day at 10am. The most impressive thing about those people is that their level of productivity from 10am to 8pm is on another level.

Focusing on being productive is not a hard task if you think about it. Let me give you a couple of examples. If you're a writer working on a new novel, you should have a target word count you focus on daily. If you're starting a clothing line, you should spend most of the time not only working on your designs but also researching fabrics. These are just some small examples but you as an individual can come up with better way you can be productive with your time and this doesn't really require you to get up at 4am.

Lastly, I'm not writing this blog to tell you that you shouldn't get up at 4am. If you feel like you get more done waking up that early then hats off to you. In this case I'm saying that a 4am wake up call doesn't guarantee you will be successful. I'm telling you to focus on making sure you spend that time in a more productive way.
